SYNOPSIS:
A multi-threaded story - warm, funny, moving and intelligent - about a group of high-school friends in their thirties, and the people close to them, as their friendly relations are put to the test. Julia, an accidental witness of a car accident, takes an injured child to a hospital; there, she makes an unexpected discovery: she is seriously ill herself, and her treatment should begin immediately. In spite of the news, she decides to go on an annual mountain trip with her friends, and to hide the illness from them. Jane, a crazy collector of celebrity buttons, has what she thinks is a small favour to ask of Filip. However, her request puts Filip in an awkward spot, which he is trying to get out of by means of a little white lie which, theoretically, no one should be able to expose. Greg is torn between his loyalty to Kamil, a long-time friend and business associate, and the love that is growing between him and Ola, Kamil’s wife. Victor, desperate not to lose the licence to run his company, expects Simon, a biology professor, to provide a false court testimony. When Simon denies his request, Victor is quick to end their friendship; he does not know that Simon, torn by a guilty conscience, has plans of his own. Martin and Alina have been friends since university, and have both struggled financially for years. Alina, who often plays the lottery, finally wins - thanks to Martin, of which he is unaware. Dividing a large sum of money will prove to be a serious challenge. Ivanka, a businesswoman, wants a child, without a relationship with a man. She asks Patrick, a few days before his work takes him to another continent, to become the father. Their relation will test the boundaries of a favour made in the name of friendship. In the end, all characters emerge victorious from the challenges that friendship sets before them. Their relations grow and take on a new dimension. In the words of the producers: “Re-friending” takes a fresh, complex approach to the universal topic of friendship. The film is moving, sometimes dramatic, but always warm and funny. One of the film’s greatest assets is the script by Karolina Szablewska, who has achieved a spectacular success on the Polish market. She is the author of “Listy do M.”, the most popular movie of 2011, more successful in Poland than international hits such as: “Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides”, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” and “The Hangover Part II”. The film presents its universal subject matter in many contexts and from different points of view, which allows viewers of all ages to identify with the protagonists, and discover their own meaning of friendship.
