SYNOPSIS:

Igor Novikov stood on the edge of an abyss. In a single moment his life fell to pieces. He parted with his wife. He went downhill when he started to drink heavily to drown his sorrows, helplessness and lack of hope. He came to a point where he resolved to end his life. Luckily, his suicide attempt proved abortive. His miraculous survival and the voice he heard during his resuscitation made him believe that not all was lost. He underwent further transformation when upon leaving hospital he spotted a poster presenting the religious leader Vissarion. Igor joined the sect. Deep in Siberian taiga Vissarion and his followers built the City of Sun. Today the sect is about 5-thousand strong. The film records everyday life of the community, their duties and way of life. Camera assists Igor Novikov in his lengthy train trips to western Russia where he preaches to people and tries to snare new followers.
