SYNOPSIS:
Ewa, a girl from an impoverished noble family, has a secret love affair with Łukasz, a married man and a lodger in her mother’s home. When the man fails to get divorce from his wife, he leaves the town. Ewa finds out his whereabouts and follows him… The film is a visual feast with its lush set design and stylish eroticism. The film is based on a novel which spurred a literary scandal over 100 years ago.
