SYNOPSIS:

Stefan Bugajski, a musicology student in Cracow, is blessed with a gift for psychotherapy. Night after night some mysterious melody comes to him in his dreams. He feels that it may be the leading theme in a bigger opus. Bugajski refrains from composing the work on his own. He wants the famous Henri Kesdi to take up the challenge. Some 40 years earlier, Kesdi chose life in silence and seclusion. Bugajski finds the old composer in Denmark. He uses all his therapeutic skills and a large dose of persuasion to make Kesdi change his mind. Ageing, ailing and driven by his hatred aimed at people around him, Kesdi agrees to compose the piece. His unexpected vigor stirs concern in his wife.      It grows even bigger when she finds out that her husband hired a young secretary.
